JD's Parrotlet's was started when a quality breeder specializing in small Handfed birds and parrots could not be found. We wanted people to be able to buy their pet birds and supplies from a local breeder that cares about the animals they sell and that is knowledgeable about them. Quality and correct answers to questions and a lifetime of aftercare help was an essential service we wanted to be able to provide. We have a strong belief that customer service does not stop after the sale "it is just the beginning" after all, we are providing you a new family member not just a bird in a cage. We encourage all questions and invite people to see the parents and babies whenever possible.
We feed and sell the highest quality products that we can find and blend our own Natures Way Premium Seed Mix From the finest quality seeds and add Purely Pellets ensuring freshness and quality you can count on "what we sell is what we feed ". Nearly all our pet birds are close banded for record keeping and all of them are handfed using My SecludaBrood method. We start the hand feeding process earlier then most other avian breeders because we want our babies to see humans from the moment they open their eyes to form strong human bonds. We also take it one step further and don't allow our babies to sit together in the brooder or in cages when weaned thus avoiding any chance of them bonding with each other while growing up. This takes more work but we know it is worth it and you will see it in the quality of our babies and see a difference. All our babies are played with daily not just assembly line fed never to be touched again that is not hand feeding in my book. They are very comfortable around children, cats, dogs and even the vacuum.
